Aspects of a Blessed Life

We live in a culture that, glorifies the gangster, makes heroes of hoods, and pities the perpetrator; although any criminal knows that what goes around comes around (Hosea 8:7). God described our time as the end time when He said, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light, and light for darkness” (Isaiah 5:20).

So, how do we live in the light when the world is so dark? A survey of Deuteronomy 26-28 reveals the aspects of the blessed life.

First: Believers gathered in unity (26:7-8).” Father Abraham (Abram) may have met God as a wandering Aramean generality, but his offspring became great, and did everything together. The activities of their journey with God are described as happening to “we, us, our, or you-all as a group.” Isolation was unacceptable.

Second: Believers sacrificed first fruits offerings (26:10) They gave offerings rejoicing for all the good God gives, and then He gave more. Peter followed Jesus after he caught two boat loads of fish, but Jesus provided every fish Peter had ever caught before and after that. Peter recognized it and gave his entire life to Christ.

Third: They ate together at the altar of sacrifice with others (27:6-7). Jesus was always inviting Himself to everyone’s house to eat and interface. When we gather and our conversation is about Him we’re doubly blessed for, “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Luke 4:4).

Fourth: They rejoiced together (27:7). There was no option for long term isolation. God has given us the church in which we are to gather (1 Cor 1:2). A life led by the Holy Spirit allows the blessed life to overtake all the my hand could do on my own.

May God bless abundantly as you live toward His throne, not turning aside to the left or the right (28:14).
